Breast Reconstruction Provides Hope and Healing
October has been designated Breast Cancer Awareness Month in countries across the world. The goal of this campaign is to increase attention and support for the awareness, early detection and treatment of a disease that is the most common cancer in women worldwide.
What’s in a name?
As a child of two physician parents I have always felt drawn to a career in medicine. Growing up making weekend rounds in the burn unit with my dad or meeting happy patients of my mom’s around town gave me quick insight into what an honor and privilege it is to be a physician and surgeon. As I began to envision my own future as a doctor I could only picture one thing: having my own practice in Baton Rouge, just like each of my parents did.
Why the Oyster?
Launching a plastic surgery practice during these trying times takes courage, commitment, and the conviction that positive changes will occur following disruptive events. A realignment of values. A focus on improved communication and connection. New ways of delivering education and service to patients.
