Dr. Kate Chiasson

Double board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery

Dr. Kate Chiasson is a plastic surgeon and founder of Ford Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  She is a native of Baton Rouge and is happy to return home to her roots to serve her community.  Dr. Chiasson is fully trained in the practice of both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery for men, women and children.  She finds joy in blending the artistry and science of plastic surgery to help her patients reveal the best versions of themselves and renew their joie de vivre in return.

Education

Dr. Chiasson is a graduate of St. Aloysius School and St. Joseph’s Academy.  Since last living in Baton Rouge she has spent many years away pursuing her education, first at Washington and Lee University in Virginia for her undergraduate studies followed by LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport.  Dr. Chiasson completed a full five-year residency training program in general surgery at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans and a three-year fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  She is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Passion

Dr. Chiasson founded Ford Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with a vision to bring an unparalleled experience to her patients and the greater Baton Rouge area.  Dr. Chiasson values the doctor-patient relationship more than anything else in medicine.  She strives to create the most comfortable environment possible for her patients, to ease the anxieties that naturally come with exams and surgical procedures.

As a woman, she is sympathetic to the specific concerns of female patients regarding pregnancy and age-related changes to the breast, body and face.  She believes strongly that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to plastic surgery and values making an individualized plan for each patient based on his or her needs and goals.

Community

Dr. Chiasson has a special interest in breast reconstruction and has been a presenter at national meetings and a published author on the subject.  She also strongly values international medical mission work and feels passionately about putting her skills to use to benefit those most in need.  Most recently in 2019 and 2020 she traveled with The Robinson Foundation in Honduras to help with numerous pediatric plastic surgery cases including cleft lip and palate repair, treatment of congenital hand deformities, burn scar revisions and even hair transplants.
